7 Days @ Startlogic hosting experience

This is my very short experience with startlogic hosting company.
My account had been set up Aug. 8 2006.
Yes creating account with startlogic is simple and straightforward. It was good.
However my disappointment started right after that.
As most of the drupal community know that it needs "Lock_Tables" privilege to database.
By default, startlogic does not offer the privilege.
I called technical support and hold my phone almost 30 minutes.
When I connected to support guy, answer was short and simple. I need to submit ticket thru startlogic website.
I submitted a ticket right after that and waited about 48 hrs but no reply from supprt dept.
So I tried to call again about the issue that I need database privilege. I waited another 30min to connect to technical support guy. His answer was "Leave database name, user name, desired privileges, and so on.."
I thought it will solve problem in short time. I waited and waited...
Today, Aug. 14, 2006, still there are no response in the startlogic ticket system.
This morning, I called them to cancel my service with startlogic and the operator says "Send email to billing department and it will be process in 2 business days."

I do not know why they have 1-800 number which is not helpful at all. Nothing had been solved via phone support, nor email yet.

Conclusion: it may be different experience for each person, but I would not recommend startlogic to anyone.

Hosting question

Is this possible?

I have say a domain called domain.com. Which translates to \www directory in my webspace.

domain.com ->www
\drupal
\subdomain1
\subdomain2

Now is it possible to setup the site such that www.domain.com points to \drupal instead of \(root)?

That way I can have a clean separation between my main domain and various subdomains.

thanks!

Yahoo! Hosting

Hi,

I've read old thread about the Yahoo hosting. Everyone sound working well except .htaccess file.
I am having more basic problem. I uploaded drupal files and set up database to the root directory of my hosting space.
However, the index.php file is not accessible. Message from browser is:

"You are not authorized to view this page"
"You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied."

Need Assistance from HP Filter Experts...

Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice. I've looked into this hosting company, they even got ranked #3 on this review site ( http://www.hosting-buyers-guide.com/re/2005powweb/ ).

I'm building a site that's gonna have alot of pictures and video, so I'll need alot of space and speed, so has anyone used this host before?

Thanks.

Anyone got mailhandler working on a Site5 host?

Just curious if anyone's got Mailhandler working on Site5 host? How about dreamhost other than rolling out your own php and running php as cgi?

Thanks.

Help me choose a host from this 4 options!

Hi,

I've narrowed between this options, what do you think, or know about them?
Any specific problems with them?
Any other hosting that would be cheap and with lots of disk space?

I have a family website, so it cannot be too expensive

Thanks all!
