My web site is currently hosted on DreamHost. While I'm generally satisfied, I've had a whole string of problems around trying to set up a mailing list/community. Part of the problem is that DreamHost has turned off some PHP for security reasons. Right now I have working versions of both Drupal and CivicSpace on my account. I was hoping that the fact DreamHost advertises its support for Drupal would enable me to overcome the mail problem. So far, no luck.
I was wondering wich hosting provider's servers meet the criteria to optimally run drupal sites ... I am thinking of hosting with hostgator but if anyonw knows a better solution for drupal sites then can they pls let me know ?
A client currently uses a telecommuncations bundle for their phone, email and web hosting. This company should not be in web hosting. They provide the minimum of an FTP account for access. No control panel, no shell access, no database...
Problem is client does not want to change companies because of the bundle. With that said, is it possible to have a web host server and an email server?
What I would like to do is move their website onto my server and leave the email hosting on the existing server?
I was hosting my BrianPedigo.info Drupal site on Godaddy's free hosting (the type where there's a google adwords banner on top) and the CSS that Godaddy was generating was breaking my RSS news feeds. Now all the RSS news feeds are working as I have temporarily made the site bannerless on Godaddy.
I've received 2 emails from site5 telling me of down time due to critical security upgrades for ruby on rails, php, and apache.
I've received no such emails from opensourcehost. (I assume they haven't done them, since I assume I'm notified of planned downtime.)
although I've been very unhappy with site5, this definitely raises my evaluation of them. I am wondering what communication others have received from their hosts.
