OK, after much painstaking tinkering, I've started to figure out how to make my site bilingual. The documentation isn't very good, but I finally figured out how to translate my menu's. You have to search for the Menu string in admin >> localization, then edit the string it finds and provide the translation (in my case french) in the text area it provides.
When pages are translated using the translation module, the headlines and copy (including images) are cloned to the translated page. However, when the page includes attachments, the attachments don't show up in the cloned page, and they have to be uploaded again, with a different name
This is a non issue, and even a desirable feature, when attachments are language-dependent, for instance pdfs of brochures that should be in the same language as the page. (German page-German pdf; Estonian page-Estonian pdf)
Hello,
I use English as default language for both gallery2 and drupal. Further, I installed i18n module to drupal and use the Language block to change available languages (English/Czech).
When both anonymous or logged-in user changes the language using Language block, the change is reflected only by drupal, but not by the embedded gallery (it remains in default language = English or default language of the user = Czech).
