The folks over at Ubercart have been working hard over the last few months to put together a solid set of modules to make Drupal-based online shops a breeze. I've been happily following their progress for since early this year, when we first began discussions with the SCW about building them a way for their customers to order from their catalog online.
I've posted more details here, but suffice to say that Ubercart is rapidly becoming a viable solution to many of the needs of online shopping and e-commerce sites within the Drupal framework.
One cautionary note: the Ubercart software is still very much in alpha, and we definitely hit a few bumps along the way. Nonetheless, most of the core functionality is very solid, and things are getting better all the time. Typical of the Drupal community at large, the uber-community is extremely active, and there are already a wealth of contributed modules and live sites using this stuff.
Conclusion: if you need/want to build an online shop in Drupal, go check out the docs, and download and setup a test install to see if Ubercart meets your requirements!
This is a job networking site I made. http://www.jobjive.com. My inspiration were sites like YouTube and Facebook. I wanted to make a site that gave people the opportunity to see the job rather than imagine the job using a 2-paragraph job description. I feel that this will make it a lot easier for people to get a sense for the job, the atmosphere and people they will work with, and so on. The site will also use search capabilities and networking to get people in touch with one another for job hunting.
