Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

HTMLArea Problem

I'm new to Drupal and have been trying to install the HTMLArea module. I thought I followed the installation instructions to a "T", but nothing happens when I activate the module in the admin/confituration area. HTMLArea shows in the list of installed Modules. But when I go to create content in a textbox area, nothing happens (same result with Firefox or IE browsers AND using the "example" theme for Drupal). Just a normal textbox with no editing toolbar, etc.

Any ideas?

Mailhandler and Squirrel mail

I am using drupal v 1.2 2004/05/17 19:35:49 and mailhandler module v 1.63 2004/07/20.

I am using retrieve function in admin/settings/mailhandler/retrieve to receive the email from the INBOX of pop3 email. Mail delivery is working well, except the read and unread mails were not distinguished. Every time i click on retrieve, i get a bunch of mails (read and unread emails). My email client is squirrel mail.

I am not using cron because of the above bug, usage of cron leads to mail flooding (its obvious).

4.5 Menus Admin Tool

4.5 looks really good. It is taking some major re-orientation but from what I can tell so far it will be well worth it. I've installed a 'vanilla' site and keep looking for modules to show up.

The Menus administration is confusing me. In the past I used Taxonomy_menu to create menu's based on taxonomy. Taxonomy has become Categories (love the word taxonomy but for user's sake I'm very happy to see the language lighten up) yet I'm not quite understanding if I can pick and choose category terms to create menu items?

Did an obligatory search on menus 4.5, and browsed the handbook, but haven't found what I'm looking for to explain the way this tool works. Looks powerful and very useful just need a bit more guidance before going further with trial and error.

Maybe someone else will start a dedicated 4.5 permissions topic as I believe it needs one out from under general comments on the release candidate. I'll do it, if it isn't already there, once I understand Menus and see if HTMLarea is working for 4.5

I came to Drupal at about 4.2 which was, if I remember correctly, less than a year ago. The progress is impressive along with the care and attention that the developer community contributes - a big thank you! With permissions and images worked out (by the way I love the simple logo image upload tool that makes life easier for us site builder/admin types! There is a lot to appreciate about Drupal's new developments.

Anonymous users denied access to everything

I guess I messed something up and I'm in way over my head. :\ My anonymous users have no access to anything in my site now, even when I set the permissions to give them access to everything. Users with accounts can still log in and the nodeperm_roles.module permissions apply to them. This is on 4.5-rc with jonbob's node_permissions modules (which I'm not sure how to use).

Image gallery is broken

i have installed image module ($Id: image.module,v 1.132 2004/10/02 09:52:14 bruno Exp ). I had no problems in uploading the image, i could see the thumbnail too, but when i navigate to personal gallery
http://sitename/?q=image/uid/1 and http://sitename/?q=image/tid,
i get a "page not found" error.

Importing and Exporting Gallary Taxonomies...

A while back I setup a site using the gallary module and now have nearly 300 terms in it. I'm now setting up a new site and would like to export those terms from the first site and import them into the new site. Both sites are running Drupal 4.4 and MySQL. Is there an easy way to do this, or am I stuck re-keying all the terms and definitions?
