How to "expire" flexinode content?

I've created a set of flexinode-based classified categories for our web site. I'd like to be able to auto-expire the content of those ads after a preset amount of time. Has anyone done anything like this? Is there something I should be copying/mimicking to accomplish this?

Thanks!

geocaching like site

i'm trying to creating a site similar to geocaching.com. it's going to be a little different but i'd like to get the same basic functionality. i won't need to have support for GPS coordinates at this point. Addresses and zipcodes will be fine. so, users can input a location with a description of what's their, and other users can search by zip code to find these locations. mayeb you even get a weekly update as to new locations that are in or near your zip code. how would you guys go about attacking this with drupal? what modules will i need to make this happen? any ideas?

Hiding Account Options

I don't want users to be able to change the theme settings. If someone creates an account on my website, he or she can go to "My Account," hit "edit," and change the "Theme Settings" on the bottom of the page. How can I remove this from the edit page?

Thanks

How can I block access to a menu/node with taxonomy access?

Hi,

I am using Drupal 4.6.5 with the taxonomy_access module. I am trying to block certain users from having access to certain forums and forum topics, but somehow I can't seem to manage that. I have 4 specific forums and 1 general. I have 4 user categories. I would like each user category (e.g. role) to have access to it's specific forum and to the general one, but not to any other forum. Users should not be able to click on any other forum, view it's content or even know that it exists.

A newb's impression - (from the right side of the brain)

I've been using Drupal now for just over a month. Like most people I was attracted to the wonderful flexibility of this cms after trying many others. The thing though that makes Drupal so wonderful (imnsho) are the modules. I love not having to deal with things I don't need, yet have the flexibility to add on as the need arises. With that said, let me just add that I am not a programmer and totally rely on those who know what they're doing to make the things work and explain it in terms artists/designers can understand. And I really think that those who create/maintain the modules should be able to provide some kind of support. Somebody, somewhere should be able to answer a few simple questions with the understanding that not everyone who uses Drupal is going to be a programmer/developer.

Over the course of this last month I've tried numerous modules that didn't work, had next to no instructions, didn't provide information on compatibility, couldn't get support on, etc. When a question is answered it's all too often pointed to a developer article or with some tech-geek-speak that people like myself are simply not going to grasp. And it's not just me. I've been all through the forums and see this over and over and over.

It seems to me that it would be easy enough to post some simple instructions on things like how to apply patches or how to update a cvs
(whatever that is - I have a general understanding, but I've no clue what to do with it). Maybe some tutorials that don't include two tons of code. Or even make it some kind of mandatory thing for developers to specify which version of Drupal their module is compatible with.
