Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

news_page - don't see where it has filtered

Hello -

I am a newbie - I got the aggregator working, and also I installed the news_page module. This allowed me to filter content from a feed. I am looking forward to seeing this work, but being a newbie, it seems that I'm missing something in my configuration - and add to that a not yet clear understanding of categories/pages/ or whatever (sorry - I'm not grasping the order of things clearly just yet).

I now have on my sidebar menu the following:

news aggregator (at this level, i'm seeing all of the entries for the single feed that I subscribed to - the breadcrumbs are
HOME and on the page there is a big title "News Aggregator")
categories (at this level i'm seeing only the headlines for a few of the entries from the feed - the breadcrumbs
home>news aggregator and the big title is "Categories")

my topic (at this level, I'm seeing the same entries for the feed I see at the top level (news aggregator) and
I see breadcrumbs home>news aggregator>categories, with the main title mytopic. I have the option here to
view, categorize or configure (I'm logged in)

Handling site name that contains ampersand

My site name has an ampersand. In order for it to display properly in my B7 theme, I need to enter the HTML code for ampersand in General Settings -> Name. But this Name is used in other places by Drupal, so for example, email subjects and signatures have the HTML code instead of the plain ampersand, making them difficult to read. Anybody know a clever work around for this issue?

How to send newsletter ?

I tried to use this http://drupal.org/project/enewsletter by installing all the components but it's not working and giving errors. I am not looking for something very heavy, just a basic newsletter functionality will do the work for me.

virtual hosts confusion

Hello,

I cannot seem to get virtual hosts working properly.

The setup is this:
WAMP - Windows Server 2003, Apache 2.2, MySql 4, PHP 5
This server is to be a production intranet running on a LAN behind a firewall.
I would like to be able to add any directory to c:\www\ so that a person within our LAN can point there browser to "http://site1" or "http://site2", etc. Howerver, not just Drupal sites. Drupal will be located in c:\www\drupal\ but I would like to alias it so that if a user browsed to "http://drupalSite/" they would be taken to the root of drupal. I am also planning on running multiple sites from Drupal's sites/ folder.
Currently the server is hosting an installation of Bugzilla which I set up with an alias to 'bugs' and I have just added Drupal, which I would like to alias to 'intranet'
I have added alias (cnames) for both 'bugs' and 'intranet' on our DNS server.

I have a bugzilla install in c:\www\bugzilla\
I have a drupal 5 install in c:\www\drupal\

In httpd.conf I placed the following directives:

Options Indexes FollowSymLinks +Includes
AddHandler server-parsed .shtml
AllowOverride all
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
AddOutputFilter INCLUDES;DEFLATE shtml

Options Indexes FollowSymLinks ExecCGI
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny

Selling Banner ads and text links on a Drupal based site

I just want to get others input that may already be doing something similar with their site.

I want to sell advertising space on my sites. I am exploring the E-Commerce module and other advertising modules to see if they can do what I require (or can be modified to do so).

Certain pages will contain banners (just 468 x 60 and 149 x 120). Banners should not be evenly rotated on all pages. Some pages should show banners specific to that page (either in rotation or static), while other pages should rotate from a specified group of banners.

Easy node sorting by user?

I plan to have tons of nodes on my site under all different tags and catagories (taxonomies). I was wondering if there was an easy way to have each catagorized page able to be sorted by the user either by popularity (vote up/down) or newly submitted items etc. Also with popularity, maybe there could be an option for recently popular, popular for the week, month, etc.. I know you can use views to make pages for each criteria but theres going to be so many different pages for each catagory and tag etc, it would be a nightmare to set up.
