Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

When cron.php does... nothing !

I am using Drupal 5.1 on Linux. When i execute cron.php logged as administrator, my navigator displays a blank page... and when i consult ?q=admin/logs/status, it displays:

Cron maintenance tasks Never run
Cron has not run. It appears cron jobs have not been setup on your system. Please check the help pages for configuring cron jobs. You can run cron manually.

Can somebody help me?

Which Files Drupal Changes

In thinking about back-up strategies and upgrade strategies I want to get clear on what files Drupal changes.

My understanding is that all site content AND configuration are done via the database EXCEPT:

  1. Photos and attachments which are stored in the /files directory

Is that it??? Do all core and contributed module settings get stored in the database?

Thanks,

p.s. using 4.7.2 about to upgrade to 4.7.6

Strange behaviour with not existing node number

I have a multisite installation with Drupal 5.1, One of the 3 domains is multilingual using i18n modules. And just this domain shows a strange behaviour.

Input of an address with a not existing node number leads to the site which is ordinarily indicated after a new installation:

Welcome to your new Drupal website!
Please follow these steps to set up and start using your website: …

Please try the following: http://www.monteviso.de/node/502 or any other high node number.
