This forum is for questions about upgrading an existing Drupal site. Don't forget to read the UPGRADE.txt file that comes with every Drupal download.

Register_Globals

My hosting is shared, they include what I think its a 4x version of drupal which runs OK, but I'm trying to upgrade to 6.12 and I'm getting the dreaded register_globals warning.

I contacted them and they said, they wouldn't turn it off because it was a shared hosting.

I've been reading about adding a php.ini file with "register_globals=off" in it. Where should it be? Root folder? or drupal root installation folder? I've tried both with no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Revathy.

Question on upgrade instructions

Okay, so I understood all the upgrade instructions until I got here:

Stage 3 — Perform the Update

...

2. Select all directories, except the "sites" directory, and any files such as ".htaccess" and "robots.txt" that have been customized to your site. Then upload or copy them using your preferred method such as an FTP client. When the warning appears that the directory or file already exists, select overwrite for everything.

Updating Drupal Issues

Hey Guys,

I'm running Drupal 6.4 on a Elefante Free Scripts installation at Sysox. My PHP Version is 5.1. Installing Drupal is fine. I have an account with Lynda.com and I am following the video instructions exactly as told to update drupal to 6.12. However, no matter how many times I try this once I update the files I get a server error. It won't let me do anything. I can't even run the update.php file.

This is what I get.

Server error!

How to you Upgrade / Update Installed Modules?

I'm new to drupal, got a few outdated modules, including Views.

How do you update it? Do you just download it and do a tar xfvz ? Extracting it over? Or is there a special process? Thanks.

Primary links only show up for first user after upgrading to Drupal 6

After upgrading the site to Drupal 6 from Drupal 5.3, primary links only show up for the first user (uid=1). Other users including those in the admin group cannot see these links.

I found the 'access_arguments' field in 'menu_router' database table is related to this problem. All those primary links that are hidden to regular users have 'b:1;' in 'access_arguments' field. I changed it manually to 'a:1:{i:0;s:14:"access content";}', then the links show up well for all users.
