I realize it was my error. I am trying to learn drupal and went to fast and it was my first update.
I mistakenly thought all I had to do to update was just dump 6.14 into the module directory.
When I did I could no longer get to the admin panel. i could see the nav for admin but go a white screen when I hit admin. I pulled 6.14 out of the module directory and got a white screen.
I put it back in and I am back to the no admin.
I have now found the correct update instructions but can not follow them because I cant get to the admin.
I tried to log into through the local host, however I am getting the following message. (I forgot to turn the site on after I did the upgrade. - How can I fix this?

I've been clearing the cache constantly for a few days now while developing some custom modules.
I saw that there was an update from 6.13 to 6.14 and when I clicked the clear cache button this time, INSTANT all white screen.
Edit: I can't even go to: local.mysite.com
Edit2: navigating to local.mysite.com/admin gives me a 404
Edit3: Deleting my local copy and downloading it from version control doesn't fix the problem.
Checked my php error log, system log, server log, apache log... nothing...
The short version: I am an old user who needs to upgrade and no longer know which modules are well supported. Can someone help me?
---------------
I currently maintain a stale 5.x version of a website (awrauf.org)
People have been complaining that the the image modules I am using aren't good and want to use PICASA ! :O (Noooooo)
Anyway, I will be upgrading to version 6.x but I currently have installed (and use) the following modules (among others).
Image and Image Assist, attach, etc
