Upgrading Drupal

i am trying to upgrade a drupal 5.12 version to the latest 6.16 but get these errors when i run the update.php script:

is there a way to run the sql update scrips from the command line directly on mysql rather through the php script, similar to how upgrade to prestashop is done.

Last weekend I was having issues with my websites and when I contacted the webhost they said they put back the missing htaccess files. At the time I could think of no reason for htaccess files getting deleted, and thought missing htaccess files was just an excuse for something else. (Yea I know, call me cynical).

I keep getting the following error when trying to upgrade from 6.15 to 6.16.

Can someone help me troubleshoot this problem?

Can someone help me with what I should do now that the update.php has broken my site?

I installed the Nodeforum module and it disabled my Comment module
I deleted the Nodeforum modle because I wanted my Comments back
But now I can't enable the comment module, the box is grayed out and it won't let me check it to enable it
