Problems upgrading from drupal 5 to 7 with custom_import

The most promising way to upgrade my site from drupal 5.* to drupal 7.2 appears do be with the drupal_import module (2.9k zip file) linked to from Direct Drupal 5 to Drupal 7 Migration in 24hrs.

However, I ran into problems. I tried to post the following here on http://quicksketch.org/:

Modules updates not allowed

Hello,
I've installed a new drupal site and I'm trying to upgrade some of my modules. But I'm getting this type of mistakes:

PDOException Upgrade Drupal 6.22 to 7.2

Hi,
I received an error message in update.php when I try to upgrade from 6.22 to 7.2

PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in drupal_get_installed_schema_version() (line 150 of /var/www//includes/install.inc).

Here is my server Spec:
Ubuntu 9.10
Apache 2.2.14 (Ubuntu)
PHP 5.2.17 ZendServer/5.0
PDO drivers sqlite, mysql, oci, pgsql, sqlite2
MySQL 5.0.32
MYSQLI_SOCKET /tmp/mysql.sock

Thanks

Has anyone managed to successfully migrate from 6 to 7.2?

I've tried several times now to get my site onto Drupal 7, and i'm now at my wits end. My site's simple enough yet will not migrate successfully.

So, the starting point is the latest version of 6. A few contributed modules (Views, Date etc) but a very vanilla site with an out of the box Garland theme. I performed the following steps:

- Placed site into maintenance mode
- Disabled all contributed modules
- Cleared the cache
- Removed the entire site except for the Sites directory and its contents
- Removed the code for the D6 contributed modules
- Copied over Drupal 7.2
- Ran update.php and watched 123 updates applied, apparently successfully
- Come out of maintenance mode

The first thing I notice is a badly mangled screen layout, with the menus along the left sidebar but above any content. So this version of Garland (or the way its blocks are working) differs from Drupal 6 considerably.

Ok, let's use Bartik, it's more Drupal 7 like. This now looks much better. Click on the Administrator menu link - nothing seems to happen.

Enable the Overlay module. Click again on Administer. Now get the infamous 'you have no administrative items'. Enable the toolbar - it's empty except for the Home icon.

pls help ! how can i remove Drupal out my url

im newbie here.
I just created a website and my website doesnt show anything except
except : index of " drupal -7.2, wysiwygy....."
all of my puplic html folders show up there.

First, I would like to ask you guys how to make it really display only My default front page :
http://mydomain/drupal-7.2/
when people click on my page ( puplic.html folders won't show up any more )

Update.php does nothing

I am trying to update from 6.20 to 6.22. update.php does nothing. I get the progress bar, but it displays "Remaining 0 of 0". When I check the available updates, it still runs 6.20.

I followed the usual steps (backed up files and database; changed to Garland theme, disabled all modules, put site in maintenance mode). I also tried 6.21 first and still the update.php doesn't take.

Any ideas? Thanks!
