Upgrading Drupal

Hi All,
I am in the process of migrating my Drupal 6 site to Drupal 7. As a result i am facing some issues with the code.
The calling of javascript laced with jquery etc is different in Drupal 7 is what i have read.

On change of the dropdown box, the table above it gets populated with projects belonging to that status. This works fine in Drupal 6.

I have a Drupal 6 site that I'm trying to migrate to Drupal 7. However, I have a gallery of 20000 pictures using the Gallery module that seems abandoned... (http://drupal.org/project/gallery)

I want to know what people actually used for options for this case. Did someone made it out of Gallery or made a Drupal 7 version?

I've got an unloved and broken old Drupal 5 site that I'm trying to import some data from. There's not much content, so I'm harvesting the data manually from the old mySQL database file. I'd rather not have to repair the whole site before I can get the content. It's not too much work.

I need to keep the original post dates, but I've got no idea how to translate the timestamps used in the database. They look like this:

In the update text, it says to "Remove all old files and directories from the Drupal installation directory."; I'm a bit confused; if I remove those files aren't I going to lose all my modules and themes, apart from the ones that come with Drupal?

drupal was upgraded to 6.24 from 6.22
The following messages came to come out of from after upgrading in the execution timing of cron.

I upgraded to 7.12 and now when I try and save an article I get the error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function taxonomy_field_insert() in /sites/all/modules/i18n/i18n_taxonomy/i18n_taxonomy.module on line 362

(It might not be an upgrade error... but I haven't done much else on my site.)
This is really crucial as users need to be able to add and save content, any help would be appreciated.
