Drupal 7.X upgrade using Drush, general question

Hello Drupal forum dwellers.

I have recently been tasked with providing regular updates to Drupal on our Corporate website servers. The site consists of a load balancer, 2 web servers, and a backend database cluster. The main goal is updating with zero downtime, which I thought should be achievable given the redundancy.

Generally with other products, I pull the node from the load balancer, upgrade, test , put back in place.

I am trying to update the "Available Updates". I don't really know how to do it. I clicked on download and downloaded the zip file on my desktop. What should I do next?

new host setting up aegir

I have gotten a new host and trying to setup aegir. The new vps host name is the same as the site currently running on a different host. I have installed aegir on the new vps, but I cannot log into it. I get a 404 error, due to the one time login url pointing to the current website. I do not want to change the DNS to point to the new site until it is set up. So how can I get the new site setup?

I have read about it and posts say edit the host file, but I have no idea on how.

Errors on internal staging server when check for updates

Hi, I am using our internal testing server to see if I can update some modules. When I go to the updates page I receive this error for a long length of the page as I scroll down the updates needed is shown. When I go the the updates page on the live server I don't receive the errors. Any idea why this might be happening?
thanks

module updates cause fatal error messages

I was informed that I needed to update several modules, sharethis, entity, and a couple of others.
Did so, and I now have the message below - I removed the updated modules and I still have the message
I have tried to clear the cache but I can't get into admin
the message is strange because I have removed the sites/all/modules/entity folder
I've cleared the browser history, same thing
