Advice sought... about to go from 4.7 to 5.x

This isn't so much an upgrade problem as it is an attempt to avoid one. I guess I'm looking for either assurance or someone to say, "What the hell are you thinking!"

I'm running a site on 4.7.

I've tweaked a 5.x theme (different than than the one I use with 4.7) to suit my needs and am looking to tackle the upgrade.

java script problem

I am upgrading my site from drupal 4.7x to 5.1x
all things are done properly except following java script code is not running

this code i used into page.tpl.php into my drupal 4.7x site
If I want to use same functions into my drupal 5.1x site
what I have to do?
here I used bluemarine theme page.tpl.php,I declare #primary-nav into my style.css

When user posts he gets all available roles automaticly.

I'm having an odd problem here. I just upgraded to Drupal v5.2 (previously v4.7) and just went live but now whenever a normal registered user (or a mod or an admin) posts something in the forum or comments on a post on the front he automaticly gets all available roles meaning 'the site' makes him/her an adminstrator, moderator.

What's going wrong here? I had the ACL and form access modules installed so i removed those believing them to cause it but to no avail, it still keeps happening.

adding comment is gone slow 5.2

We have just updated our drupal from 5.1 to 5.2 on a apache server with 2.8 mhz processor and 2gb ram... Before update posting comment and deleting a comment was very fast abous 0.5 sec or less. After update, site is also very fast but when we try to post a comment it waits about 5-6 sec. Because of this users clicks on the submit button mutiple times so after prosses it posts multiple comments.

We use normal cache for 3 hours, xtracker module, live disscussions, Xtracker module and comment module.... Where can be the problem? Any one has an idea?

Upgrade via replacing the core module?

Hi All,

I wanted to take an advice. Would it be ok if I just replaced my 5.1 core modules with the 5.2 and ran the update.php??

Thanks!
