Can we upgrade to Drupal 8 from Drupal 6?

I want to ask you a question: Can we upgrade to Drupal 8 from Drupal 6 afer skipping Drupal 7? Why or why not? Thanks!

Seeking highly skilled Drupal 6.x+ themer with strong design sensibility to provide support on a project basis.
REQUIRED:
Must know very well: html5, css3, getting around Drupal, experience with the omega theme and responsive design, Photoshop
Must be able to show: strong examples of websites you themed and either designed completely, or made specific contributions to the design.
Must have a strong knowledge of: accessibility, usability, and cross platform bugs and fixes (including mobile devices).

NOT REQUIRED, BUT WILL IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES if you have the required stuff too:
Good to know: javascript, JQuery, more than basic PHP, ability to provide backend development support (blocks, views, etc)

Work will include either completely themeing a design we will provide, supporting our lead design technologist in themeing sites, and/or sometimes working on the design as well.

Can we make drupal auto update ?

I came to the idea after Dries's keynote (20/03/2012), to be more continuous.

When looking at other trending, winning software(Firefox/chrome/mobile apps) They all auto updates.
Other dying software is holding on to big releases (IE6/7/8/9).
