I've been hired to recommend a CMS package for a client, and I think drupal fits the bill...but I'm looking try to make sure (100%) that it will meet my needs--maybe even with a demo link?

For the sake of argument, I've got 3 users:
Admin
A
B

The URL's need to be:
http://website
http://website/A
http://website/B

Hello Drupal users! I would like to know if Drupal is right for my project. Some people over at another site have said it will not work, and I'll need to hire a coder to do such a project, but whatda they know? What do you think?

I basically want people to visit the site, register and be able to upload content, the long and the short of it. The main thing is I want that content to be organised into categories. Then I want the registered users to be able to download that content.

I am looking to "build" a website for a national UK multi-activity and social club, we have 600 members and our current website is not entirely appealing to potential new members. In addition the 38+ groups across the country in the absence of anything better now have their own websites and use a whole raft of web services from the likes of Yahoo. What this means is our web-presence is distributed and not coordinated, even members are not aware of the various forums and information portals we have and members have to search 38 different places to find what is on this weekend - not practical and it's hurting the organisation. let alone the harm of not ranking well on search results due to the distributed nature of the content we have.

What I have in mind is a central site with pages (possibly using different templates) for each group. A central events calendar search-able by event size and location. Reviews of past events and galleries of photos, minutes depending on event type.

Pretty new to Drupal and the whole CMS thing,but it seems pretty powerful. I'm in the midst of designing a site that requires what I would call multi dimensional categories. Basically, I would need the capability to have categories be filtered by a user group. The user group would be based on a geographical location.
