help me decide if this is the right CMS

Hello,

I have a site up, but it is still in the works. I have a couple of questions that I hope people can answer here. So far I think this is the right way to go, but not quite sure.

Here is what I want from my site.
I want to make a community site for both industry people, and the consumers, and hobbyist to get together and build relationship and discuss everything that is going on in the industry.

still struggling with site requirements

I have happily been using drupal 6 for a few months now. and till this day, I still appreciate the forum support here :)
However, I still cant get some of my requirements down even researching has got me no where :(

Feasibility for a docs-in-training site using drupal

Looking for some experienced advice on whether this is possible or not using Drupal 5/6 before investing in a significant chunk of time. I'm familiar with basic PHP/mySQL. Not so much with CSS, but I have someone who can cover that end of things.

1. Display a list of registered users listing their address, contact info, etc. only to other registered users. To anonyomous users, the listing would include names and hobbies. Users may also be filtered by certain parts of their profile.

HELP converting from single to multisite drupal installation

I've recently changed maintainer, and this gave the possibility to handle a multisite installation with at least one third-level domain.
I want to split the current configuration in:

Upgrading 5 to 6, do I still need these modules...

My site is 5.10 now. Want to make the switch to 6 soon. I need some help determining if v.6 these functionality or if there
is another module or workaround to achieve similar results that my ver. 5 modules do. I went through all my modules and these
are the only ones left that are not yet at stable for 6.

These are the modules that are not yet avail for ver. 6 or are not yet in stable form:

1) comment Upload (dev only) ---------------------> Not sure if I even need it. I use private_upload module. Does ver.6 core
upload modules support file uploads to comments?

2) event (dev only) --------------------------------> I use the event calendar regularly on our homepage.

3) Override Node Publishing -------------------------> I use this to allow certain users (other than admins) to make a forum topic "sticky"

4) privatemsg --------------------------------------> Use this a lot. Not sure if the new forum upgrades now include this.

5) quote (beta only) --------------------------------> Use this for forum and comment quoting other users posts.

6) Signature for forums (alpha only) -----------------> Have to have this for forum signatures.

7) smileys (alpha only) ------------------------------> Again, this is for forum/comment posting.
