Search Engine Placement on an Established Site moving to Drupal

If I switch an old site over to Drupal, anyone know how it will affect search engine placement? Currently the site appears high in engines because it's an established business and it's been around a long time (10+ years). I would like to minimize issues when making the change. Is there a process involved? Like should I keep all the same old metatags in place somehow? I know in the long run Drupal will provide better SEO, but the site in question is consistently on the top in it's industry and I'd like it to stay there.

Is Drupal right for...

I need to do a site with two static menus, one horizontal and one vertical). No login for most of the site except one section, support. When a user clicks on "support" in the horizontal menu, the page loads a login. Post login it redirects back to the unlocked support page for an uninterrupted user experience.

I've worked in Moodle and Angel a lot, so I get the general functions and admin menu, as well as editing the php and css. My issue is I'm not sure how to get the login to work in a page and then redirect back to that page post login.

A social network

Hi I just wanted to know is it possible to make a social network type of sites with Durpal because I am new to this platform and is it better to use one click installation or not.

Thanks a lot

Here's a synopsis of the website I've been asked to develop, should I use Drupal?

Hi everyone, I first wanted to say thanks for taking the time to read this.

I am web developer proficient in XHTML and CSS. I know a little PHP but not too much. I've been in the web design business for about 10 years.

I've been asked to design and build a site using Drupal, or some other CMS. The site would require phpBB, a blog, and some other financial apps (pre-written code snippets). Aside from those things, it's a normal website with a few other pages. Eventually, they want a client login but not now.

I'm comfortable doing these things normally (meaning non-CMS style) but they want the ability to edit the pages on the site.

Now, I've done quite a bit of reading. Everyone (except for a few) acknowledge the learning curve. I also understand that everything in life depends depends on how much you put in to something, intelligence, experience, etc., but generally, when people say that it takes them about a year to feel comfortable with the system... are they referring to projects that go beyond building a normal website like this? Or even for a mid-level programmer will it be some time before things are running smoothly.

I just wouldn't want to tell a client I can have something done in a couple months and then get stuck at 50%.

ThemeForest.net Clone?

I have used drupal in the past and I am still using it now just wondering if it's possible with existing Mods etc to create a site like ThemeForest.net. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Editing files through the web interface

Hi,

This isn't really a "before I start" question...because I've started. I'm just wondering if there is a module that allows people with certain privileges to edit files (especially theme files) from within the site's web interface? I'd like the client to be able to change a couple of items inside a theme file without giving the client ftp access.
