I've recently come across Drupal and have spent the past few evening looked at some of the details regarding Domain Access module and the Multiple domain module but being New to Drupal I can't make my mind up as to which if any would work for my project.
So here is the idea
I am looking to provide a Small Town portal site to promote the business and clubs in the area (could be up to 100 or so businesses if they all wanted to take part).
The front page would have latest offers, shop of the day, club news etc you no the sort of thing.
Each of the business/ clubs would have their own area of the site to add content some of which would end up on the home page. The firms/clubs can also promote their own area of the site be it.... townsite.co.uk/butcher or .....butcher.townsite.co.uk or if the firm wanted it own domain might be ....butcher.co.uk.
The whole site would be hosted on a shared server with cp access, php, mysql & phpMyAdmin to start with but if the site took off then a dedicated server would then be used.
Need to be able to cope with any or all of above.
One future problem could be..... Is it going to be possible if one of the businesses moves out of our area so is taken off our site, but they would like to keep the pages they have built up and have them transferred to a new site. I know they will need a copy of drupal but how easy is would it be to copy their part of the data base (will the butchers pages be in a butchers sql table?)
So will Durpal be able to cope with this type of site ?
Which of the above modules would best suit having a miz of sub domains and full domain names?
Do you run it from one database with table for each firm or each firm as a separate site then link it all together?
Any advice very welcome
