Hi there, I haven't used a CMS since I used Mambo when I was just starting out 5 years ago. Now I tend to code my own stuff from scratch, as it seems quicker and easier especially when customisations are needed in the future (I understand all the code and can change things around without worrying about breaking other aspects).
However i'd still like to get a good CMS under my belt that I can use and modify for projects. I'm wondering how suitable Drupal would be? I've used OS Commerce and Magento before (I don't trust myself so much when it comes to financial transactions), as well as Invision Power Board (I took over another site which was already using it) and i'm really looking for a CMS which won't give me the same headaches that these have done.
I'm coming at this very much as a developer, I don't particularly care what options there are in the admin interface, I want to rip the code apart to make it do what I want. I'll give you a few scenarios similar to things i've had to before and hopefully someone can explain how easy/difficult they would be.
I am new to Drupal and i have this small doubt in "Removal of Dormant Contents" using drupal. "Dormant contents" according to my knowledge are those contents that are viewed less often(low flag ratings) and that have some negative comments.
so i want to gain the information about various modules that are available in Drupal. It can be of any version. I tried my best in searching the modules but was not very successful in my search.
I don't know much about Drupal, I read about it on this Website but I never used it or have seen it in action.
For some upcoming projects I am looking for a CMS which fulfills the following features:
- discussion forum with restricted access (registered users only) and the opportunity to upload documents
- member area (members can register and login and they have to pay to be part of the community)
I have been asked by a friend to put together a website for a small sideline business he is setting up. I have done some web design in the past but purely html & css.
I can put together a static website for him but he wants to be able to upload new content and add information as time goes on. So rather than trying to teach him how to edit html I thought about using a CMS.

There is a need to develop a multilingual website which allows content creation in multiple languages e.g. French, German and English.
If we decide to use a WYSIWYG editor, which one will be able to support different languages like this and how users will be able to switch from one to another?
I have predominantly developed websites in English so far and don't know how to do it.
