I was wondering if there is an option built in to Drupal or Module that would allow me to create a custom tag and be able to call it on a page. On another CMS that I used, I was able to create a custom tag and add some content in it. And when I wanted to call it, all i had to do was insert {specialTag} and the content would be placed there by the CMS.
I am in the planing phase of building a website and can't decide whether Drupal is right for this project. I'm hoping you can help me decide.
The website would basically be something like a poll site. Each user would have pre-assigned username, and would log in to fill out a form. After all data has been collected, I would display it in all kinds of funky ways.
There are two reasons why I'm considering Drupal, or, as a matter of fact, any other site engine:
-Security
-Themes
I am new to drupal and will be taking over as webmaster for an existing site due to unresponsive current webmaster. Most forum help I have found is geared towards new webmaster & new site. Does anyone know of a handbook or tutorial that addresses the specifics of how to switch webmasters on an existing site for beginners?
I basically want to be able to send my current webmaster one email and request all the information I need to know to be able to do this on my own, but don't know what all to ask for. What information do I need from the current webmaster?
I decided to go with Drupal for my personal website and other project websites.
I am using wordpress from sometime ...
But after evaluating the possibilities of using drupal, i decided to it in my projects.
My question would is it safe to start with drupal 7 ?
Right now we have drupal 6 with lots of modules but most of the important ones are merged into drupal 7.
So it's confusing for me to choose the correct version for the beginning.
I dont want to be in a endless loop in the near future to update my projects to latest stable core.
I am new to Drupal and I want to use it to create a relatively easy website:
1) The visitor can sign up to join the website
2) The user can log in
3) There is going to be a/various database(s) with different types of data (i.e. pictures, text, metadata, etc.)
4) The user can upload/download pictures and data from the database
5) I want the database(s) to be able to encapsulate the data (pictures, text) so that they are not accessible by outside visitors in the form of http://blablabla.com/zoo.jpg
