Will this work for me?

is this data model dooable in drupal?

Hi,

Sort of new at this, but looking to create a database of medical patient data and just wanted to see if the following was implementable in drupal (custom fields in nodes, etc)?

Newbie here - Need to host a relational database - is Drupal appropriate?

Hello all! I'm brand new to website design and content management, but was tasked with creating a website to host data for our research. Essentially, I need to create some sort of relational database and host it online. We have a large amount of soil data that is categorized by location (where it was taken), and each location can potentially have several pages or spreadsheets worth of data. I need to be able to host all this data and keep it organized by location.

New to Drupal, and I got a bunch of questions (also about Ubuntu and Drupal)

Hi all,

I need to set up a company website. I will be doing this on Ubuntu 11.04 (latest version) which ships with Drupal 6.x in its repositories.

First of all, I keep reading all over the place that a manual install is better than the default Ubuntu one. I tried both on a clean system to see what the differences are. Of course in Ubuntu I will have to settle with version 6. But seeing that there are way more modules available for that version, I am not so sure that is such a bad thing.
Can someone please tell me what the advantages are of one over the other? Just to get an idea of what the main differences are.

Then for as far as my project is concerned:

The web site I need to build needs to consist of the following components and will be rolled out in two phases:

Phase 1:

1) Company presentation with news section
2) Pricelist information for services
3) Contact information
4) Ability to upload files (documents) for clients (simple registration required though)

Phase 2:

5) Remote workplace module that allows employees to work from home through the website
6) Login service for those employees
7) Employee only message board/forum with email/messaging
8) Possibly project management module to monitor progress of projects (also only for employees)
9) E-Commerce component that allows customers to pay for services (upfront & afterwards)

Drupal IRC "irc.freenode.net: Terminated"?

I try to connect to any of the IRC channels http://drupal.org/irc using Mibbit and it says "irc.freenode.net: Terminated"

It has been like this for the past few days. Is Freenode.net offline? If so, when will it be back up?

Thanks,
