I just underwent shoulder surgery so please feel free to blame the silliness of my questions on my medications.
Briefly, I have 2 website URL's registered, both of them being parked at the moment. I intend to set up a blog on one and interactive education on the other. My original plan was to use Drupal on the Main site which will be AmericanResource.com and WordPress on the blog site, ARGifted.com.
Two quick (newbie) questions. Although I have been building and using computers for 25 years, I am new to Drupal so please be gentle. I bruise easily.
I am now in charge of setting up technology in a small, remote computer lab that will not have internet access. (I know, in this day in age that may sound crazy, but an internet connection is not available in this case.) In the lab we have a Windows Server connected via LAN to about five work terminals. For the past several years the server has hosted a completely static "website" that the terminals access via a shortcut to the site's folder in a mapped folder on the server.
Before posting this, I have looked around Youtube at some vids, and reading a fair bit on Drupal/Jamoola and Wordpress.
I have decided to look more at Drupal.
However, What I cannot find it a "Simple list" of what Drupal can actually do and from that whether its suitable for my design of website. I get the feeling that the answer is a YES. But before I go down the path of getting my head around Drupal I dont want to waste time trying to achieve something that the app cannot do.
I want to create a site which allows instructors to create and upload their profile with area of expertise, region, years of experience etc. Some of the fields will be hidden like telephone/email etc (for premium features)
Students can search instructor profiles by subject or teacher or region etc.
They can view list of instructors matching their search criteria.
The site would be a type of marketplace for connecting students with instructors.
It is written a lot about Drupal and WP. I am reading for days about all + and -
But instead the information to help, it made me more confused. Therefore I'd love to hear your opinion, please :)
Here is the story.
In the middle of January, all my wordpress based websites were hacked. 3 multisite installations and a few single sites.
Since then I am thinking about moving my main website to drupal.
Drupal's functionality is great. Even more than great!
