Drupal, Mambo, Joomla

Hi Everyone,

We are looking into using Joomla for a project that allows our editors to post reviews on restaurants, accommodations, nightlife and snow conditions for the ski resorts we cover. We currently have a system in place that was built in perl. You can see an example here:

I want drupal to be my index page, how?

I use Fantastico auto install for installing drupal. (Just so everybody knows).

But it asks me to “Install in a folder”, meaning it would appear on MyDomain.com/Folder

But If I want my drupal to be my index page, what do I do? Do I install it in that folder then what? What’s the solution?

P.S I only want to install through Fantastico because any other method is a headache for a newbie like me.

Thanks

RC3 install

I've installed several drupal sites but this has got me stumped

I was trying to bug test a problem with an old database that I was working on in that the user screen with blank when trying to log in

So I tried to duplicate the problem by installing a fresh database with the same code from the old site but I've hit a snag on the installation

Evaluating Drupal - Site for Volleybalclub

Hey all,

I'm new to Drupal and evaluating it to see if Drupal is a good choice for us.

I'm currently running an ASP website for our volleybal club. We have about 20 teams (men, women, boy and girls) and about 350 members in total. More than 300 games are played per season.

Q for new install: Should I wait for 4.7?

Installing, configuring and learning any new CMS is work.

I'm in no big rush, but I'll go for the latest stable 4.6x if 4.7 and good modules and templates won't be viable for 6+ months...

New to Drupal, I'm wondering what the 'upgrade' path is like? Seeing the warnings about incompatiblities between versions for both modules and templates, I'm worried if I install 4.6x and then 2 weeks later is the release you've GOT to have along with 100% of templates and modules...

I just don't know.

So, do I go with 4.6x or wait for 4.7?

Simple To Do? -or- Requires Much PHP Hacking?

Hello,

Helping http://www.prescottarts.com/ update their site is one of my many projects. Our members are mainly other organizations. As you can see, a makeover is sorely needed. I'm an artist with webmastering experience, not a tech buff.

I was looking for blog software only. But Drupal's modules for non-profits are so good, it would seem to be a disservice not to start with it. For instance, the volunteer management module would be a great capability to add in the future. The board decided against a full CMS site at this time. They want more visual impact, not more words, especially for the front page.

We do plan to replace the static news page "Artzine" with a single multi-user blog. One that handles images well. No comments. Only members authorized to post. Then we want to display teasers from the two or three most recent posts on the front page. It looked as if using the custom front page module and/or PHP snippets might do that. I thought at worst I could insert an RSS feed in the layout.

But I don't see any examples of teasers with images. Is that done? And reading "embedding Drupal in a CSS frame" -- that actually sounds like what I intended to do. The instructions for messing with the template file were way over my head. Full-on PHP study is on my to-do list, but not this week or even this month. I've used a blogger.com account to embed a news section into someone's site, that's the extent of my CM knowhow.
