We have been using Xanga for our needs thus far, but a lot of our users are leaving because, well, Xanga sucks. Basically, I'm the leader of a church youth group whose members live all over a city. Many are migrating to Myspace and personal blogs, which is fine, but the parents are not too keen on that given all the myspace rapes and such. I've only ever used Mambo before, and don't feel like using it again, for probably obvious reasons.
I 'm a new drupal user, I just wanted to know if there is any step by step information that is designed for new users like me. Things like putting the first item on site and changing the background of the site.
I did a search and got mostly errors that had ASCII characters in it and that is not what I really needed. So I have been given the task of figuring out how to import this ASCII text files that are on an FTP server. The file is | seperated with it's fielded data and each new record is terminated with a new line. I will be honest I have no earthy idea where to start because the most I have done is used Aggregator2 to import an RSS feed and then format the nodes as I needed for the vote up down.
Is it possible to restrict access to types of content through taxonomy_access but still allow an anonymous user to view the teasers? We're considering implementing Drupal for a site where some content is only available to members but we want to allow casual visitors to see what kind of content is available to them should they register. Is there another module or way of doing this? What I'm getting at the moment (There are currently no posts in this category) is not really very helpful.
Or is Drupal not up to this job?
I spent time building up a CSS menu and framing panels. Now all I need is the ability to use this framework as a wrapper on something like Drupal. I installed it last night, but it looks like there's no simple way to put in a naked blog/story/gallery page with my pre-existing CSS code/style.
Is this possible or am I'm going to have to dig in deep and rework my existing design to match Drupal's infrustructure and labels?
