Creating a competition website

Hello,

We're developing the site for our game development competition and since we wanted to expand on existing areas from our old sites and introduce some areas, we decided to move from our homemade CMS to Drupal.

Here's a rundown on our plans and how we've proceeded so far. I'd like suggestions on how to do this with Drupal and existing modules, as we hope to minimize reinventing the wheel.

Newbie Needs Basic Installation Steps

Guys I know this may seem a bit retarded but not really being a programming type and having some html and mysql skills can someone give a basic set of steps to follow in order to get the demo setup so I could start personalizing pages from there.

Is drupal too complicated for a semi-verse webmaster to handle?

Thanks.

Blog community with gallery

Hi. I'm looking to setup a blogging community for an art group that i am a member of. They already have a forum, but i'd like (on a seperate site) to offer users their own blog (with categories), and their own gallery where they can upload and 'host' their images for free.

Could i do this with drupal? I've examined b2evolution and wordpress MU, but neither of them offer the gallery hosting solution that i'm after. I'd really like to get on with setting the site up, so if anyone can elaborate on this i'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

John
