Before you start

Hello folks. I come to you a bit desperate and in hopes that Drupal will solve my problems. I have two seperate needs from this software and I hope you can tell me if it is possible and if so... exactly how I may go about achieving it:

My webhost has session.save_handler = files.

Will drupal work on this ?

I have the 'Search form' block enabled on my site, but it doesn't work. It doesn't search for the entered text but instead always redirects to a new search page. Entering the same text in the search form on this page produce the correct result.

Why doesn't the first search produce results?

The index status is 100%.

I currentky have Drupal installed at http://www.mysite.com/drupal-4.7.3, but i want to change that to http://www.mysite.com/drupal.

I'm going to backup my site before i do this!

However is there anything that i should be expecting.... I am think about simply renaming the folder.....

Any better Ideas... Should I even do this....

I am creating a simple company website and have considered using drupal. Basically, the site will have an "About" section, "Locations" section, "Contact" section, and possibly "Jobs" section. The site is very simple so there is no need for users to log in with exception to the site administrators so that information can be updated from time to time. Is there a way to remove the username and password boxes from the installation but have them only accessable for the site administrators?

Okey, I am fairly sure that the answer to most of these questions is yes but i don't know the best moduless etc...

First the type of site is social network shopping.

Things I would like to see.

1. People can upload photos of themselves
2. People can vote on photos 1-10 score
3. people can easily find other people with similer fashion tastes and add to a buddy list
4. Some sort of livechat functionality with this buddy list or at least PM system or a chatroom setup.
5. People can vote on stores listed in a giant directory of stores (they can also submit stores to be ok'd by an Admin). I would prefer a quick did style vote system rather than a 1-5 voting system for this bit.
6. People can submit reviews of stores (people can vote on how good these reviews are)
People can Submit info on sales currently on about town... it would be nice if there was a quick dig stlye vote system for this as well
7. Strong Forum system is a must

Now for the harder things
1. Intergration with a mapping system so that it can bring up a map of where the store is located.
2. A referal number for sign-ups... I want to take about the town photos of people and give them a card with a sign-up number when they sign up they enter a number and thier photo becomes part of thier profile auto-magicly

The photos uploaded need to be able to be attached to part of thier profile.

Anyway I Hope you guys can help me out and give me a head start on all this :-D
