Can I have multiple drupal installations for a site?

Suppose I wish to have 2 independent drupal sites at:
subdomain.domainname.com
domainname.com

Will there be any problem if I do separate drupal installations(with separate databases)? (for e.g. one installation in domainname.com and other one in domainname/subdomain)

I know we can do this in one installations by having different folder in 'sites' directory.......but is it possible to have 2 drupal installations as mentioned above?

How Good is Drupal for SEO work?

I'm looking for a content management system for my site. Some folks recommended I try drupal. How different is this from mambo/joomla? I've experience with those two CMS.

Three quick questions about Drupal

Hi all!

I'm evaluating a number of content management systems for a website we're about to build and Drupal is one of them. I've checked it out, I quite like the way it's built and it's a strong contender, but I still have some question marks to iron out:

1) Is there a way for my client to create templates of his own? The site will be updated often and include a number of modules: for instance, they might want to make a page announcing a new exhibition - this would be a regular title-leadin-body type thing - but it might include a calendar module on that particular page. They're not very technical and I'm worried that most of the flexibility of Drupal is on the backend. From what I've seen so far of the templating system, it seems to require adding a new php file to the file structure and hand-coding it to display the modules you want?

2) Failing that, is there a way of defining templates easily? Could we make a lot of pre-set pages (like "announcement page with calendar" or something) and have my client input data into them?

3) I haven't seen very much in the way of image handling when I've poked around. There will be a lot of images on the site - attached to stories and such - so I need a good, easy way to handle them. The best solution would be to have an "image bank" where my client can upload images via a web form for later use on the pages.

We have some resources to throw at this project so if there's no current functionality for these things, it can be built (and hopefully given back to the community!). But I'm looking for the best tool for the job right now and if none of this exists, I should probably start looking elsewhere.

"Create Content" missing

Hi there and thanks for your time reading this.
I use to have my "create content" but now it's missing from the "administer" ?module?. Anyway, I can't create content anymore because that option to click on to do so is no longer there.
Secondly, I can create menus, for example, "About" but can't add content to them. Perhaps if I find my "create content" I can.
Any and all help with any of the two would be greatly appreciated.

Is Drupal 5.0 a good place for a newbie to start?

I just registered a domain name with Go Daddy yesterday and have been trying to decide on a CMS to use for building the new website. I'm completely new to websites development (although pretty tech/web savvy). I've looked around at multiple free/opensource CMSs Drupal, Joombla, Mombo as well as commercial ones like Dreamweaver and FrontPage and decided I'd try Drupal (liked the capabilities, style and available support). However I just noticed that 5.0 Beta is available (and getting great reviews).

Should I use 5.0 for a new project?

Hi folks,
I'm not sure this is the reght forum for this question, I thought about putting it in pre-install, but that appeared for instalation problems.
Anyway, I'm using Drupal on a new project which is scheuled to launch mid January. Do you think I would be better off developing with 5.0 from the start to ensure future compatability or 4.7 for current stability?
Thanks,
Rob
