What are the new benefits of 5.0 and why would it be worthwhile to start using the beta?
I don't mind using a beta, but I'd like to know the compelling benefits that would make it worthwhile to start with it, as I will probably be doing a customized work with it.
Alot of people seem to be raving about Drupal and so I've made this my first port of call!
I'm looking to add a 'latest news' / 'blog' to a charity website that I'm building with the ability for updates to be automatically syndicated to an email list and RSS feed.
Type of top-level content:
reverse chronological listing
publication date
article title
tag line
first paragraph
Each article would link to a page with full text and images.
I've been looking for CMS to make maintainance of a society webpage simpler, namely so I can force other members of the society to submit content without sending it through me.
But we also use the website to manage applications to a conference we run.
Hence there are two very different user profiles, society members, and conference applications (yes, I would like these to be users, so that they can submit what they intend to discuss at the conference as content for others to see). However, great though Drupal seems, I am worried it will not handle this very well.
I am the webmaster for a community web site that I have developed and supported using GoLive. The task of maintaining the system is becoming somewhat unwieldy and so I am thinking of transitioning it into a content management package. Drupal seems like it might be just the thing.
