Well, I have a couple of questions to see if this is the right way to go. I like all of the functions that drupal has to offer, but there are a few things I would like to do.
1 the main page I would like to make it a static page. I do not want it to interact with the blogs and forums. I want to put data about what the forum and blogs are for and ads. I just want the links to the forums and blogs I choose.
2 when I make a forum topic ie Games with a sub catagory of general chat I do not want anyone but me to make sub catagoies just to post inside them.
I was wondering if my new website about advertising can be done on Drupal? It is basically a digg clone based on the pligg open source cms. Can voting promote nodes?
I want to install drupal into my root directory, so it becomes my new index page. However, there are a bunch of folders, files, etc. already in this area (although none conflict; i.e. each has different name).
Will the install wipe out everything already in the root directory?
Or can I simply install, combing the new data with the old?
I'll start by saying that I love Drupal, and I deeply appreciate any and all work that is donated to the cause. The project is =amazing=, and I'm glad to see that it has gotten good "traction" in the "market".
I'm about to set up another Drupal site. On previous site, the biggest expenditure of time and frustration was in selecting and modifying themes. Most of the non-trivial themes have had "gotchas" that only showed up under certain conditions, and which required a theme change or "messing around" with HTML and/or CSS.
