PHP + MYSQL +DRUPAL

Hi Everybody,

I'm newbie in drupal, before to install it, I know that drupal needs apache + php + mysql and I would to know which is the best option to install drupal.

Which package is the best to do this ?

I was thinking in WAMP maybe ? or it's better to install Apache + PHP +MySql as a separate package each ?

There is any other package that can install all together ?

Thanks for all,

Drupal as a CMS - how does it work?

I'm curious how Drupal will work as a CMS. I am moderately familiar with the ancient Spectra CMS from Allaire. Here where I work we use it and it basically works by keeping the site in cache...then gathering all database stored edits to the content each week for a "publish" where new content replaces old and the cache gets re-built.

So with Drupal, how does it work? Do people generally keep their site in cache? When someone edits a page through the admin, when or how does it get updated to the site?

Shopping cart + pay content?

Is Drupal the best choice for this?

I need to create a website that will have a small e-commerce system containing about 6 items. And a database that can only be accessed by a payable account.

For that account, a customer would purchase a block of time (i.e. One Year) to be able to access the database content. The database content will be updated by an employee of the company through their web browser.

Is Drupal the best choice, and if so, what are the best modules to accomplish this?

Many, many thanks for any help with these questions!

Drupal CMS for a big content based website

I am very new to building websites, actually this will be my first one.

I am planning to open a big content website targeting a very specific group of hobbyists, and I am looking for a CMS that will be able to handle all my requirements.

1) Photography database, multi categories for each image, clickable links to cross search based on the category chosen, 3 sizes of the images, auto apply watermarks to images without loosing image quality.
2) Video database (YouTube style) clickable links to cross search based on the category chosen, auto apply watermarks to videos without loosing image quality.
3) All above submitted (Images & Videos) to be entered to a queue database, pre screened by Admin or moderators and then entered to the main searchable database.
4) Ratings and pre-screened comments by registered users, contact user etc.
5) User space MySpace alike
6) A nice looking forum that works and looks as good as VB.
7) Homepage pooling the most popular & admin favorite images and videos, pooling news from Google news AP etc, popular hot topics from the forum
8) Ad generated revenue like Google ads and some banners, optional paid membership with privileges like personalized look of the site like themes / no ads etc.
9) RSS, Pre defined tags, and so on.
10) PM’s for users.

The website has a potential of huge traffic.

Drupal Chat

I've seen there's an AJAX chat and I am not sure if that is the best thing and I'm wondering about IRC. I would like to have a chat, maybe something I can turn on and off easily so I can say chats every week at a certain time. The most important thing is that only people who have an account with the site can get into the chat and their username is used for the chat - that possible? Thanks.
