i'm curious how the contributed modules work. many i see are already not 5.X compatible. i'm a little worried that the more modules we install, the more problems we might have in future if we become dependent on them and they aren't supported after some time. what's the deal here? are all modules always eventually updated to work with the latest drupal version? are we going to install some and then they might not be developed to work with later drupal versions?
does Drupal offer any URL tracking system? i want to give someone a URL to my site and simply track the # of clicks i get. i searched the contributed modules and didn't see anything. curious if Drupal doesn't do it, what other people use, ideally for free.
And I would like to set up something similar, I want something close to the above site, while encompassing something similar to Yahoo directories, or msn
I know all this can be done as I have seen the above sites.
hi,
I have a classified ad website and I been researching and found I need to get a content manager. I need my website to be more user friendly and super easy to edit. Since my website will have uploaded content and from users, they will need the ease of editing. Can Drupal be use as my content manager? All my features are already in the script other than a tracking the orders feature, and i think it's a add-on for that in Drypal. My script is php/mysql. I'm not a programmer and one is needed.
please reply

Ok so i have been researching and experimenting with drupal for a year now. To be honest I have made very little progress :-(
I'm starting to re-evaluate if i'm learning the right CMS. Originally I liked learning drupal because it's way more flexible than Wordpress, but now i'm realizing i might need something in between wordpress and drupal in terms of ease of use. I dont really know any php at all, but i think more of my confusion comes from the basic concepts of drupal like taxonomy and CCK.
