Is Drupal a viable solution for my website? Please review What is Drupal before posting.

can drupal be made really simple?

what i want to create is a sort of do it yourselft website for my clients. it will go through a series of questions like what color back ground, text, how many pages, ect. and make the pages and buttons. then on each page, they can go through and add in text and pictures. i was thinking that there are several pages that would be common to each like a contact us, but most are just text with a pic or 2 sprinkled in. it would have to look really simple to the user too.

Can this be done with Drupal

Hi,

I've been reading for a long time and I think I have a bit an idea of the possibilities of Drupal and the modules. Anyway, I've got a site, that has grown into a maze of different software, multiple logins for the same user etc etc. However, it's ranking with google is really good and the site gets a lot of visitors. Thinking of how to improve the site, I wanted to look at Drupal.

My question to you, people who've worked with Drupal is, do you think i can make the following site with Drupal (and modules)? The site is a tourist destination portal.

  • links directory
  • a guide (it's tikiwiki now, preferrable community thing too)
  • reviews (accommodation, nightlife, excursions etc, to be done by registered users)
  • forum
  • news (can I mix an existing rss feed (wordpress) of other site with my own news?)
  • gallery (got gallery2 now and would like to stick to that, it's really good and it would be a lot of work uploading all those pictures again)
  • accommodation booking (I saw there's a module) where room and hotel owners maintain the information
  • real estate: estate companies and individuals could show stuff they want to sell
  • events (allowed users add to the list)
  • newsletter (with new site stuff added automatically (excerpts)
  • obviously: one login
  • blogs

Can this be done?

Is there any way to make Drupal 5.X use strict XHTML? If not does anyone know if this is being looked into for Drupal 6?

Thanks,

Multi Sites - Single DB with Prefix or seperate DB's ?

I am installing 5.2... I am a little confused about setting up my multi sites. Do I need to be using the same database with diferent prefix's for each site or can I have seperate databases for each site and still be able to share logins etc, with the seperate sites? Which is the prefered method ?

Thanks,

Trying to price install of e-commerce module in Drupal...

Hello,

Our firm is building a small, publising website and the client would like to have e-commerce capability. They are primarily selling 4 books, and the site has 7 pages. We are going to use a Drupal e-commerce module and are trying to price accordingly on our end to avoid scope creep. Has anyone recently completed a similar sized e-commerce site in Drupal - if so, can you share the amount of labor/hours spent for the install?

Thanks, Dave

What would I use to make drupal a review site?

I want to make a review site, and I was wondering if drupal can do this. Also what modules would I need? Would this be easy to accomplish?
