To subsite or not to subsite

That is the question....

I have created a site which currently uses numerous modules. It is on a hosted server and includes the video module and ffmpeg (which may tax the server dring conversion; the weblinks, cck, image, audio, spam span, google/youtube embed modules, etc and some blocks which query the databas to show conditional internal linking and conditional content (based upon node being viewed).

I also want to add functionality to be able to:
* host and track public case studies of product use scenarios (includes linking up manufacturers with users interested in performing a certain case study and vice-versa).
* host a software development area for people to both suggest new sofware features, evaluate, and generally develop both open source software (probably Not hosting product software itself however because I can't figure out how to use a CVS system to host product releases) and (everything but develop) private software.
* If I can do it, to host a product .arletplace for spftware and hardwae manufacturers that would like a low ovehead method to distribute their products.

I want to keep the case studies on the main site with the weblinks, product reviews, and contests (and contest entries).

Module: User Picture Resizer

I found a module named "User Picture Resizer" but it's support thread is closed. I also don't have an installation of drupal where I can install modules. So I got a couple of questions.. maybe someone out there have tried the module and know this?

Is this module working?
Do I need to know php to install it?
When installed and working, how do I resize an uploaded picture. It is easy? A screenshot would be great..

Bookmark sharing on a social networking site

hello,

I want to enable a feature on my small social netwrking site that would enable friends to share links that they find on internet very easily.

I have noticed that www.teamsugar.com -- the social networking site that runs on drupal has this kind of feature. You can see the brief video here http://geeksugar.com/83306

Different layout for homepage / Document distribution

I'm required to build a site that has the following restrictions, should I be using drupal and if so can you make some pointers on how hard each may be to accomplish?

1) the home page and a few other information pages have a different layout than the rest of the site.

2) Users who aren't logged in can only get to the home page and a few other general pages, after logging in, they are taken to a different section of the site primarily designed for document distribution (PDF User manuals)

Drupal and iMIS

I am looking into a few CMS solutions for a new website project I am working on. My client is using CRM software called iMIS which contains all of their customer records etc. iMIS provides an API (which uses a COM interface) which enables developers to interact with it.

Has anyone had any experience with interfacing between Drupal and iMIS??
