This forum is for less technical discussions about the Drupal project, not for support questions.

Module examples

It would be great if all the module descriptions include a link to a working example of the module (page where the module is being used). I'm an administrator and find it difficult sometimes to figure out exactly how and what these modules do. I don't like bugging my generous host too often to download various modules only to find out they're not what I'd envisioned.
Thank you to all the great developers!

How do I create a custom view on a specific node

Hello I am the process of converting from a Mambo site to a Drupal site. On my mambo site I have a trivia module that was just a hack of a guest book module.

Currently, I am using flexinode to create a custom "trivia" node type where the user enters a question and an answer. I then want to display the questions in a table and have a like "show answer" that when clicked the answer appears. On my current site it is a bit of javascript that displays the answer, because I don't want to refresh the entire page for each of the answers.

Impressions about drupal from a Newbie after 1 week of evaluation

Hello

I started to evaluate drupal a little bit more than 1 week ago, after evaluating PHPFusion and Joomla. I liked Joomla a lot and would have stayed there if not Drupal seemed to be strong in these 3 points:
- SEO Friendly
- Good User Rights Management
- Cleaner Code

I am excited and impressed about Drupal.
With this post I want to write down my first impressions of Drupal, they are intended to show some points, which are probably important for people evaluating a cms and not looking only from a technical point of view (even this is important in the long run). It is not my intention to make drupal bad (drupal has convinced me), it is my intention to show that with a few changes drupal could attract much more users.

My short summary in one sentence is:
I think I will stay with drupal, because it is in the 3 points above strong (which are very important to me), makes a stable impression and has a clean interface for enhancements, but I think drupal gives away quite a few users because of some smaller but important points, mainly in usability.

Here the points:
1. My first frustration was the search function in the forum. Searching for information is one of the core things when learning and working with a cms. It is hard to understand, that a search "The directory files does not exist" returns all posts which have any of the words, for example all posts with the word "the" are listed. Luckily there is an alternative via Google (http://drupal.org/node/48913), but does everybody find it?

Spam Management

I've been noticing a dramatic increase in spam comments lately...

anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Installed the spam.module... what next? what are the best settings that work for you?

Getting started - defining page content

I'm just getting going with Drupal, and slowly working through this forum and the wealth of documentation, tips, snippets here on drupal.org and around.
But I guess I'm still working on grokking some basic concepts: what is the relationship between content "nodes" and "pages"?
Example: I have an idea of what I want my Home page to do - It should have a teaser for a lead story, and 2 other stories. In the sidebars - navigation. My "leaf" type pages should just feature the story itself, perhaps related links. Standard fare.

urgent: broken connections

please forgive me for reposting ~ I won't do it again but if anyone has a tip here, I very much could use it and there is a bit of time pressure.
