Organizational Difficulties

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In my first post ever to the Drupal.org forums and as a new user, I initiate this forum discussion to address a number of organizational difficulties I have encountered in attempting to implement Drupal for my general use. It's also a bit of a test to see how quickly I get flamed by "real contributors" for my obvious ignorance, as I have noticed on a number of other topics. Let the games begin.

! I want to be a DRUPAL CODER !

Ok guys, Im a college student and I had my last exam on friday. I have been using Drupal for almost a year now and I swore I would spend this summer to become a Drupal demi-god. I wont be applying for summer of code because I will be doing other things this summer and I hear u shouldnt.

Trying to install modules. --- get error in the "settings" every time

I am trying to install a module, but i keep getting an error when i try to go into the settings.
Am i doing this wrong? putting the folder in the wrong place?
i tried to put the folders, as well as the individidual files in the main directory/ modules as well as the directory / public html / modules ...

I can "activate" the module in the check box area under the administration panel in "modules" but then when i go to "settings" i always get an error, it never works.

Mark all forum posts as "read"?

Ok,

I'm currently using Drupal to develop a few sites. One of the things I get the most feedback from my clients about is the poor quality of Drupal's forum (particularly compared to phpBB).

I know, I know. Nobody wants to integrate the two (and you're quite right, it's not a great idea), but nobody can deny that - from the point of view of a user - phpBB does things that Drupal's forums don't.

The most-requested feature I have is a "button that marks all the forum posts as 'read'".

Has anyone done this already?

eCommerce in Drupal 4.7

Just started developing sites with the new version of Drupal.

I notice that the eCommerce module hasn't been updated for 4.7. Has it been depricated, or does another module replicate its functionality? The same question for the various Paypal modules.

If these modules are currently unavailable, does anyone know when (if) they are likely to make a return?

Thanks in advance,

Iain Galloway

I've started to take a look at Drupal and been playing around for couple of days and read around in lots of tutorials. But, I think I could need some few advice on what direction that I need to do to figure out some configurations.
