Can Drupal easily handle hundreds of Content-types (each with own set of fields), thousands of Views and thousands of taxonomy vocabularies along with translating this components?

Dries Buyearts talk today was good, but the commentaries' about whats in the fridge really took away from the discussion. They hijacked the voting and got whats in the fridge to be the most voted on question. It took away from the message the Drupal founder was trying to make.
