Drupal 7.x

Will there be a direct upgrade path from drupal 5.x to 7.x? Or will sites have to be upgraded through 6.x?

I am looking at different internet paltforms to use for the business but would like to know whether Drupal does cover our requirements (listed bellow) and therefore I would appreciate if somebody from the technical team could rate the functionality of Drupal using the following: 3 Existing Functionality, 2 Can be developed (by us)or 1 Cannot be developed.

List of requirements:

Central resource for customers to send questions (help function)

Adding multi-media/Using video, image and instruction/Using Adobe Captivate for image capturing

"How to?" cards work much better now

Update information/communication

Bespoke functionality needs to be recorded. What version of the application is used for a specific client?

Use intranet internally for document management, content, FAQs for each product...)

Security is important (very strong management and workflow)/Access restricted to specific areas/documents

Comprehensive list of the setting (People settings to be marked by a question mark to define what is that setting)

List of non deliverables

Recurrent Questions with a "Yes" and "No" answers

A tutorial is a good idea

The sign element should be linked (linking elements/pages and releases)

Tagging the knowledge base application (keyword for search)

Known issues management

Is it possible to bridge two instances of drupal. I'm trying to bridge two subdomains on the same domain together both running drupal.

This more than a discussion is a request.

Wouldn't be great if somebody develops a Collaboration (especially for documents) module for Drupal?

It would be a great help in the corporate environment and an even greater contribution to Drupal.

I saw a website with a nice greeting box that varies depending on the site's referrer and I am looking for a similar feature in Drupal. By doing some research I found out it is a WordPress module:

Sorry i am new to Drupal, but i like what i have seen of it so far, i run a Baby Rockers website which is built around wordpress but after spending hours reading through Drupal i am really keen to see Drupal instead, but am worried about losing data migrating or even having to start from scratch, so thanks in advance for any advice that would help me move my site as quick as possible so i don't lose any downtime.

Is there a migration tool ? would i be better off starting from scratch ? will google penalize me ?
