Architectural questions...

Good day all,

I am a new Drupal convert, but an old sole developer. I would like to take advantage of Drupal for a concept that I have but I am bit confused regarding some of the more discreet architectural approaches one would use for doing certain things.

As stated, I have done development "back in the day" of the internet boom. I built a legacy based Information System that was originally a dial-up...and was converted to an internet site...but it was long ago. I have been out of this world for a long time but can't seem to stay away, and everything has matured and seem so very interesting!

Sorry to be so wordy, I have a concept that I would like to develop, I have done a bunch of research on this site and many others regarding frameworks, Zend, Joomla....they seem to go on and on. I like Drupal and I want to get on with "things" so I hope it is appropriate to ask some questions.

My questions are generally "is this possible", "does this take a ton of customization" and "wow...you are old and your ideas are all 'old'". Please feel free to point me to research if there are areas that I should consult and if this is completely inappropriate here, my apologies to the community.

Module development required

Hi guys,

We're looking for a Drupal module developer who can help us with the specification below.

I like to be up-front and honest and don't wish to waste anybody's time - we're a start-up and we operate on a shoestring budget, which means we do have a small budget available for the work to be done, but it's not a huge sum. If you're still interested, read on...

Drupal Module Specification

Outline

We require a custom module for Drupal to be developed that will enable us to easily connect to two affiliate network APIs (Affiliate Window - http://wiki.affiliatewindow.com/index.php/Affiliate_service_APIV3 - and Hoseasons - http://62.254.234.4/hoseasonspartnerapi/HoseasonsPartnerAPI.asmx ), provide site administrators with options for importing specific products from the affiliate network’s product catalogues, creating new nodes based on the imported products, updating nodes with dynamic data from the API (for example, prices and availability), enabling booking fulfilment by transferring customers to the affiliate merchant’s site based on availability and booking results returned from the API and checking product status frequently (for example, if an existing product has been withdrawn and notifying site administrators of the availability of new products from the affiliate network’s product catalogues).

drupal batch upload backend processing

Sometimes I have a lot of files to be uploaded, it's time consuming that I click on and upload them one-by-one(especially when the uploaded file itself is very large and takes long time to upload), is there a way that I transfer all the files to the the server side(where drupal is installed), then I can add/import those files to drupal directly on the server? I think you can 'import' images this way, but what about any kind of uploaded files(images, videos, pdfs, etc).

Thanks!

Calendar for D7

I am trying to set up my site in D7 and duplicate the calendar found at http://www.bluecc.edu/event. What module should I use?

Users List View

I am redoing my site in D7 and need to find out how to duplicate this page http://www.bluecc.edu/staff_directory. This information is populated based on the users registered for the site, and there is a check box in the individual users edit page to indicate to show or not to show.

Drupal 7 & OG

Hi All,
I can't seem to understand correctly how the new OG module work with Drupal 7. I've install the module, created 2 content type (one group, one content), and everything is working great.
But I can't see the "group detail block" (on my site, or in the Block page). So I can't understand how can you easily create childs of a group, instead of creating a new content, and then selecting the group. Can anybody give me some help, or is it because the "group detail block" is not complete yet....

Thanks
