Learning to set up a site by leveraging from Drupal.org

Since I can see and use drupal.org, it would make my life MUCH easier (as a newbie trying to set up a new site) to be able to find out exactly how drupal.org is configured and set up.

For example:

I want to know all the taxonomies here -- it might help me set mine up.
I want to know how all the blocks are set up here -- I might like your setup and could copy it.
etc. etc. etc.

Bottom line: I'd like to be able to see every setup / configuration setting for drupal.org so that I can use that as a learning tool -or- as a template for what I'm doing.

Forum taxonomy here

I was trying to find more info on documentation and went to the forums. I expected to find some major entry covering documentation, but couldn't find one. I'd suggest adding one... I would think it needs to be a major term at the same level as "support" or "development".

Use of the word "node"

Hello,

I just recently installed drupal. Very nice. One minor point -- the usage of the word "node" in the drupal documentation is confusing. When I think of a node I think of a site. If I imagine setting up several drupal nodes, I figure I'm installing various drupal instances. Know what I mean?

Any chance of using the word "items" to describe various bits of content - stories, forum posts, etc.? Why "node?"

Can I get a copy of your forum module?

I would appreciate it if I could have a copy of the customized forum module you're using on drupal.org for my site.

Thanks!

What does this site run on?

Just curious about what this site runs on.

What hardware is it running on, and what connection does it have. (is it dedicated or shared hosting, etc.)

(I'm hoping that a site I have recently done with drupal will manage OK on a shared server as it grows more)

Thanks.

I noticed that the last update was over a week ago. Is Cron Job not working?
