Drupal 6.x

Edit: Tried submitting this here but the form kept telling me 'You have to specify a valid component.' and wouldn't submit.

I tried following the CVS guide and well ... the results speak for themselves.

I'm obviously just not intelligent enough to get this CVS stuff. (I'm also new to LINUX so the whole terminal thing is a learning curve - just installed Ubunutu last weekend)

Hi guys, pardon me if my question sounds silly but am a newbie wanting to learn how to build a complex site using Drupal. Am intrested in building something like teamsugar.com eventually.

My question is, if I wanted to build something like teamsugar-do I need to know alot of PHP? I would imagine I would need to know some PHP to customize things to my linking. If so I should pickup a big book on PHP first or should I just dive right into Drupal and tinker around?

I have done little bit in drupal regarding modules but no idea about theme implementation. I want to know how a theme is developed mean template and then files are made like .tpl, and how the data is shown in these files.
Actually I want to know that, if I created a template myself for my site then How I will use my template in drupal. Is there a complete guide to understand theme development.

so this is really sad - i put up d6 for a new site, spent a bit of time hammering away at it, running all sorts of dev and beta stage modules being ported over and then realized that soooooo much of what i'm trying to do hinges on a slew of functionality that's already up and running full steam on d5 (from views and organic groups to notifications, buddylist and countless node/content utilities)

sadly, it seems that d6 came out fast and strong with an army of busy module developers in tow, many of whom are working like mad to port to d6 but for whom 'working on drupal' is a hobby and not a full time job...same goes for the new theming guidelines, there are only a fraction of the themes currently available for d6...

as a result it just starts to feel more and more like a really, really useful version of d6 won't actually be around until next winter or spring '09 - just being conservative here, modules need to be ported, then tested and debugged, many won't even roll out for months...some module devs and teams are all over the support requests, others are sometimes around, and others appear to have walked away from modules (many looking for co-maintainers, new maintainers, listed as no longer supported or not being ported and so on)

I am new to drupal. I read about SEO tips, as i activated clean url and path module. So is still there is need for pathauto module?? and is this available for Drupal 6.1. What should i do for duplicate url.

Is Drupal 6 is SEO Friendly. I heard about another module nodewords, please explain what should i do?
