I am attempting to upgrade Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. I have followed the instructions in the UPGRADE.txt file completely and am still having a nightmarish experience with a large number of very difficult errors I'm having to work through. So if anyone can assist a now very weary person that is doing my best to stick with Drupal through this difficult process, it would be most appreciated.

Recently transferred a working Drupal 6 Installation to a Mac 10.6.8 server but now every time a user performs a search they are taken out of the drupal site into a page made by the Mac server titled 'Search results for all wikis' instead of the displaying either no results or any results. URL remains www.example.com/search/node/.

i tried running cron and re-indexing the search on the search settings page but this doesn't seem to be working.

First, I will apologize because I am a complete Drupal novice. I am trying to learn how everything is put together and it's all very confusing. That being said, it seems that when my authors post new Alerts, they are the only ones getting the email notifications, not everyone that is subscribed. I've tried to look through some of the other forum posts here and elsewhere, but I'm unable to make heads or tails of the information. I think the system was set up to use SimpleMail for email notifications, processed immediately and set to run on cron.

I have a content type with a nodereference select field setting to unlimited value.

I need to add one of the values of this field to selected nodes using VBO but VBO doesnt keep the existing values the nodes currently have. The existing value is overwriting.

As mentionetd here : https://drupal.org/node/1105494 : There is an option in the fields form to add new values instead of overwriting existing ones in VBO 6.x-1.10 and above but i don't see it anywhere.

i have the questionable pleasure to take over a drupal-driven website from some moron who left behind a very messy site.
since i need to upgrade the site pretty soon to drupal 7 it seems, i want to clean-up everything beforehand.

Now, i already updated all modules to the up-to-date versions, cleaned the database and so on.
But there is still the "images" folder in the site that holds many files, which seem obsolete ( orphans from cms-uploads etc.)

So, my question is:
