Please Help!! Installing -500 Internal Server Error

Please bear with this newbie!

I have a domain and host and the hosting is already configured with two SQL databases.

-> Assumption 1: since there already is a database created on the site, I shouldn't have to create one?

-> Assumption 2: Following some articles I read, I logged in with MySQL and can't see any way to add a user etc: is this step unnecessary for me since I already have a database? I would expect all I need to do is add in the database name, username and password when I go to my URL after installing drupal?

That aside, I have uploaded all the Drupal 7 files, and gone to my URL, and instead of the installation page, all I get is this:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at www.xxxxxx.com Port 80

I am at a total loss as to what to do. I have searched here and found it may be due to permissions not being set on my sites/default/settings.php and sites/default/ folder.

Serving Drupal from CIFS share, mounted on Linux server running Apache

If you're serving your drupal site from a CIFS share, mounted on Linux server with one of the latest kernels, you may get "Site Offline" maintenace page error with irrelevant errors such as "Undefined index: minnelli" or "Trying to get property of non-object in". The root of this issue is in includes/database.inc where it fails to correctly identify the database.xxx.inc (database.mysql.inc) to be a regular file when using PHP is_file($handler) function.

doteasy/basic + drupal 7

Hey everybody im currently attempting to get drupal running on my doteasy site. It is the basic package and it looks like if i buy a better package they have some automated way of getting most of the popular CMS's on your site. Ive tried Ftping the drupal 7 contents into my root folder but once I do that if I go to my .com and try to install it will always redirect to the doteasy homepage. Am I wasting my time and should just shell out the extra money or am I doing something wrong with the initial install??? thanks

How to unlock - lock.inc

I just changed the favicon setting in the bartik theme and got this message

"PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in lock_may_be_available() (line 165 of /home/nxkqmxn123/domains/xn--42ci9aet2dd7esc1a2ag.com/public_html/includes/lock.inc)."

I cannot do anything now. How can I correct this error?...

Please HELP!!!!

Can't get passed Database Configuration Screen

For some reason I'm unable to get passed the 'Database Configuration' screen. The wacky thing is that I don't get any error screen. It appears to just refresh the page. Weird.

Any ideas?

fckeditor upload default path error

Our original Drupal server crashed. When I rebuilt a replacement, I changed the install path from /mnt/drbd/intra/drupal to /var/www/html/drupal. I was able to import the original Drupal database, and woohoo the wesite was back up. However, when fckeditor is called, it still has the default path for the originial server.

/etc/httpd/conf.d/*.conf, and /sites/default/settings.php both look OK.

Where is fckeditor getting its default path?
