Installing Drupal

I would like to have one big happy Drupal multi-site installation via subdirectories.

However, it only sort of works. The premise is drupal is installed in a subdirectory of the webroot, not in the webroot itself.

myserver.com/drupal

I have followed the steps to create an appropriately named subdirectory in the sites folder. Now I have ....

myserver.com/drupal
myserver.com/drupal/sites/subsite.myserver.com

I have told the sites.php about this site.
myserver.com/drupal/subsite ... myserver.com/drupal/subsite.myserver.com

I am having trouble to get my Drupal installed, primarily because of the support from the ITS and would like to get some suggessions/advices from you:
1. development site: Is that possible for Drupal to have a development server and a live server? Our techical support dept says there is no such a thing in Drupal. Is this true?

i want that the users who login to my site is forwarding to a certain side.

I use the Trigger-Module for it. If I install this module on my main-domain "onlinetechniker.de" it works. If I install this module on my additional Domain "onlinetechniker.org" it doesn't works.

What is the problem ? What can I do ?

I've installed Drupal and have it working but can't change themes. I click on make default and I get, "access denied error saying "You are not authorized to access this page. ".

I am logged in as admin and there are no other users. It is fresh install so admin has all privileges.

I tried setting permissions to 777 on the sites folder and subfolders. My web host has had a go at fixing this but says to get specific Drupal help.

Have checked permissions page anyway, but all privileges set for admin.

While i've done so for several older versions this time i cannot get around the installation proces for drupal. To me the error is not really meaningfull at any stage. I'm no drupal developer.

I've read the installation notes and acted accordingly by copying > settings.php

Path = /var/www/drupal6 and /var/www/drupal7 respectively.
System = Debian Lenny

MySQL 5. 0.51a
Apache 2.2.9
php5 5.2.6 with suhoshin patch

For Drupal6 - gives a warning regarding menu.inc line 315 then fails to proceed.
