Installing Drupal

I am running a standard Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP web server with virtual hosts installed. I have 4 sites currently up and running, with the 4th one being the one where I want to install Drupal.

I followed install.txt precisely until I got to the $db_url and $base_url settings. Then I wasn't sure what they wanted, so I just guessed. Needless to say, when I attempted my first browser login I got a "500 server error". I know for a fact that MySQL and PHP are installed properly, as they work on the other websites, and I set this one up no differently (plus, I just ran a PHP test on this site and it came out good). So, I need help with these settings:

$db_url = "mysql://username:password@localhost/database";

USERNAME: Are they asking for my MySQL username? Or the website user's username?
PASSWORD: Do they want the MySQL user password or the website user's password?
LOCALHOST: When running virtual hosts can I leave this as "localhost" or should I rename it "ubuntu" (the hostname of my Linux box) or the fully qualified name of "ubuntu.mydomain.com"?
/DATABASE: What do they want here? The full path of the database (ie /web1/web/drupal/database/database.mysql) or just the name of my database (/drupal_db)?

My drupal in is the "drupal" subdirectory of my website. Do they want the full path (ie http://www.example.com/drupal) or do they want just the base URL (http://www.example.com)?

Iam trying to install the buddylist module It got installed

but when I search for a user and try to add him as a buddy it gives me a warning.

warning: Missing argument 1 for buddylist_addbuddy() in /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/drupal-4.6.5/modules/buddylist/buddylist.module on line 342.

Can someone explain me why Iam gettinf this problem

OK, i'm having some log in problems and was hoping that someone here might help. The problem is like this:

Well, it only started after I tried using the SQL commands for the event module in PHPMyAdmin. It apparently brought down the database and I had to reinstall everything from scratch. Now, that means a full upload of all the 4.6.5 files as well as a complete database wipe and creating the SQL tables again.

Then, I created my admin account and started getting all the info back in. When my friend tried to register, he then found he couldnt log in - he would get sent back to the log in page again and again. I logged out to try loggin in myself and then found out that I had been locked out of the admin account in the same way. This is the exact screen I see everytime I try to log in:

Nevermind the MSN popup, but you see, I dont even get an error message, I just get sent back to the same page.

I've checked everything - reloaded the SQL tables again, deleted and redid the database again, uploaded all the files again, everything. I even tried in 4.5.7 IIRC, and the same problem occured. I tried this out on another server and did not have the same problem. My test site is running without any hiccups. In PHPMyAdmin all the tables have "OK" status and a check on the user table shows my account still there.

I tryed to installe several modules (images...) 4.6 on the 4.7 version without success .

Could you confirm modules for 4.6 are not working under 4.7 ?
