Release notes

On demand of Acquia we decided to extend the the support of 8.x-1.x until 2020-12-31.
This release modifies the update checks accordingly and adjusted the tests to succeed against Drupal 8.8.
The minimal support throughout 2020 will NOT cover

  • Search API Solr Multilingual 8.x-1.x
  • Solr 4, 5 and 6 support for Drupal 9.x
  • Guaranteed compatibility to the latest versions of Solarium and Search API
  • New or back ported features to 8.x-1.x

Nevertheless it is recommended to upgrade to 8.x-3.x. Acquia customers can do that by migrating from https://www.drupal.org/project/acquia_connector to https://www.drupal.org/project/acquia_search_solr

If you upgrade, be aware that you already missed more than 2 years of development and frequent releases of Search API Solr 8.x-2.x and 8.x-3.x.

The biggest change compared to 1.x is the fact that the module doesn't include ready to use Solr config-sets anymore!
These were too limited for all the new features. In 3.x the config-sets will be "generated" individually for your site. See

For the "migration" it is required to generate the new config-set first, create a new Solr core or collection using this config-set and to re-index your site.
