At first I thought if I had 64 bit hardware the best server performance would be had with 64 bit operating system. Now I am not sure because I have read about far greater memory usage for the same task on a 64 bit OS. I am seeking opinions on whether to have a 32 bit or 64 bit OS using Drupal in my situation.
The Hardware is an Intel Xeon processor.
The server is a VPS with 512 MB allocated.
The OS will be a guest of XenServer.
Memcached, XCache and Fast CGI will be in use. The server will be Lighttp.
If it is to be 32 bit the OS will probably be Debian Lenny.

If your VPS is upgradable and you expect to do much more than just host html files, go with 64bit... reason being you can upgrade past 4gb ram and allow your site to use ffmpeg and such... If you are just hosting a small site and you feel 512mb will be enough or there will be no need to go past 4gb... go 32bit.
