What is the title module?

What is documentation?

Documentation makes things clear to people unfamiliar with the thing or process being documented. This is not always the case with Drupal module documentation. While the poster may not have read the documentation I've read quite a bit of it in the last month here and I could often ask the same question - sometimes the only way to really figure out what some of these things do is speand hours installing and using good old trial and error.

User-centric is ultimately the only way to go.

Where in the documentation the title module?

It will be displayed when you install the module and enable the title filter in admin/system/filters.

Killes, I understand your frustration. Please just don't post anything if you are frustrated, it just puts off new users.

I'm familiar with Drupal, so I know what the title.module does -- it allows users to link to other nodes by just typing the title between square brackets. Once the module is enabled, it works automatically as a filter.

But, if I'm a new user, where do I find this information? I looked in documentation -- I can't find it.

I looked in the Drupal project (since title.module is part of core). But, the project module doesn't support descriptions for sub-components.

Doing a search for "title module" has an overwhelming amount of results (i.e. too many to be useful). I guess this thread is the most useful.

I think I can share Killes sense of frustration if that is what it is.
I am no newbie to computers. I familiarized myself with PHP and MySQL about 5 years ago. I even went a long way into developing code for validating database form entries in PHP with the rules stored in a database and used phplib etc.

The web wasn't my main area then, and since that period Delphi has been my main programming tool.

I have selected Drupal to develop a community, project-oriented website for my school year group, something I promised them close to a year now. The are currently using Yahoo Groups which as you all know isn't quite the ticket

Time does not allow me to learn every aspect of Drupal thoroughly. From looking at the module list I guessed that the title module was what I had in mind and from bmann's response it seems to be exactly what I am looking for.

Even today I have managed to get taxonomy sorted out to classify entries and help users classify what the want in the space of a few hours, and I don't think I have yet spent 10hrs with Drupal.

I appreciate what you Drupal guys are doing and I know the need to RTFM, but time constraints mean that I have to get this sorted out to night and announce the site to my classmates tonight. It is now 3am and I know that if I don't try, I may not get the chance until next weekend. I have to create some taxonomies, add enough guidance topics to get my mates started off on the right footing without any further help on my part before I got to bed. At the latest this evening they should be up and running satisfactorily without any intervention on my part for at least 2 months.

You might feel that from this entry I ought to know better, and that I do not and I am not showing the respect for the effort and dedication which has been put into this CMS.
I might have appeared lazy with some of my previous questions and with some of them, I was able to work out the answer even before the posts were answered.
I just asked those questions in the hope that as I tackled the more difficult aspects of my requirements, others would be able to help me with the parts I felt would be quite simple once I got the answers. And from bmann's response the title.module fits this category.
A bracket here and there and you are done.
I did search the documentation for 'title module' before posting this question and realized soon that I might drive around in circles for a while without getting close to an answer. You see Killes there is a practical purpose for some dumb questions after all, and such questions are not always asked by newbies who only want things the easy way.

The terse and simplistic tone of the question might have indicated some disrespect for the documentation, which is not the case.

In the interest of my mates needs I have to drop my geek hat and just do it the way any non-technical guy who is a quick study would do it if they were under time constraints, and try to familiarize myself with it in depth as time goes on.

As a person more familiar with programming issues, I apologize for any offence I have caused any Drupal developers or contributors. I know how it feels when you put a lot of effort into developing a system and some folks don't seem to have any appreciation of what has gone into it, and in this case it might rankle a bit more as it is a free project.

I have been making my mind up to try and fill some blank areas in the documenation as I have been familiarising myself with Drupal. As a mark of contrition I am prepared to fill some holes in the documentation in some area readers of this thread can specify if I get the chance to spend more time with Drupal. I don't want to give a firm timeframe. Just name it and one day if the my timeframe(somewhere inside my head and a bit undefined) is not too long, users might see it appear, or else make a good monetary donation or both.

PS. Is there a smiley for a frothy jug of beer? :-) I am a kind of teetotaller but I will buy you guys some if we happen to meet one day

Big Up to the Drupal crew.

Is there a smiley for 'I am feeling rather sheepish'?
