So I managed to erase the navigation and with it, the login box. Unfortunately, I have now logged off and have no way of getting back in. Is there an easy way to fix this or do I have to bug the guy with the rights to FTP.

If I understand correct you need to access your log in form/page -- to do so, simply go to www.yourdomain.com/user

LOL, no you're not-- or you have a lot of company:

Documentation -> Troubleshooting FAQ -> Account, Permission and Login Issues -> Login after disabling the User login block

It wouldn't be an FAQ if it wasn't, well, frequent. ;-)
